Reducing the minimum wage
Taxing overtime
Increasing public spending
Offering tax breaks to companies which hire new staff
Offering Bangladeshi style Micro loans
Offering free transport to the unemployed

Why should you care about the Digital Economy Bill? Well, if you like having an internet connection, if you like being able to email and use this and other websites, then you should be concerned. All of those things could be blocked merely on someone's say so that it might in some tiny way infringe someone's copyright. Say one dodgy image, a 2 second clip of a song, or even nothing at all....

Use the Internet along with other methods to interact with you.

Set up an Accountability Group of local Community Leaders, to inform them of community opinion and to allow them to hold their MP to account

Participation in a democracy doesn't have to be seen as a threat to representative democracy. The two co-exist and have done for a long time. Those who seek to be defensive of the status quo may wish to frame it as an either / or question but it doesn't have to be seen this way. Participation and representative democracy can be seen as mutually enriching.
